Cattery Policies:
All kittens sold as companions and show alters will be spayed/neutered before placement.
Kittens will be registered with TICA and information provided on how to register with CFA as well, if desired.
Our kitten price is $3000 which includes spay/neuter.
Show quality kittens intended for future breeding are $4000.
Kittens will be vaccinated at 9 and 12 weeks of age. A 3rd vaccination will be required after 16 weeks of age.
Kittens will be free of internal and external parasites and ringworm (we have never had ringworm in our cattery).
Our cats and kittens are cared for by our Board Certified reproduction specialist, UC Davis, Optimal Selection by
Wisdom Panel, PCR testing by IDEXX and a Board Certified Cardiologist.
Kittens have a 2 year health guarantee against genetic diseases HD (hip dysplasia), PKD (polycystic kidney disease), PYKD (pyruvate kinase kidney deficiency) and HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). If a kitten is diagnosed with one of these, RagtymeNF will offer a replacement kitten when next available. The Buyer does NOT have to return the first kitten/cat to use to enact this health guarantee as we feel that is not in the best interests of the cat.
Kittens will be spayed/neutered at 14 weeks and can go home when recovered and healed from surgery. This is usually a week for males and 2 weeks for females.
Declawing is against our ethical policies and will render any health guarantees null and void.
Kittens will be raised in our home and socialized using a modified Puppy Culture program. We endeavor to accustom them to everyday household noises, dogs, grooming/nail trims, handling, car rides. They will be litterbox and scratching post trained.
All of our cats in our breeding program are periodically health screened for FIV/FeLV (Feline Immunodeficiency & Leukemia Virus), PK Deficiency (Hemolytic Anemia), PKD1 (Polycystic Kidney Disease), and HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy heart disease), at appropriate ages or cleared by parentage. All kittens/cats are sold with a legally binding contract & health warranty.
Our first priority is the health and happiness of our kittens and cats, and our policies are designed to reflect that.
If you are interested in one of our kittens, the first step is to fill out our Prospective Buyer form (download pdf on this page below) and let us know of your interest in our Norwegian Forest Cats. We do not take deposits for our waiting list. Our 37 years of experience in breeding and exhibiting Bearded Collies has taught us to think through practices which are commonly accepted by other breeders as the norm. Deposits, and especially non-refundable deposits, trap the buyer and seller into agreements they might otherwise change their minds about entering into. We prefer to get to know our future owners and allow both parties to have the freedom to purchase a kitten or walk away.
Kittens must be paid in full and RagtymeNF must have a signed purchase contract before leaving for their new homes.
Payment for kittens can be made by Paypal, Zelle, cash, Venmo sent via: friends and family (not goods or services), cashier's check, money order, personal check, and cash. Must be paid in full 2 weeks before the kitten is released to the new owner if paying by check or with cash or Zelle the day of pickup.
In the best interest of the kittens we do NOT ship in cargo and they must be picked up in person or delivered by us. We are happy to drive or fly your kitten to you for an extra charge. We prefer to meet every new owner in person and only allow in-person selections and pick-ups of our kittens/cats. Our closest airport is Denver International if you need to fly in and have us meet you. You will need a sherpa bag or an airline approved carrier that fits under the seat and an airline reservation for your kitten.
Our available kittens may be viewed by appointment for serious purchasers only after they are fully weaned and have received their first & second core vaccinations/dewormings by 11-12 weeks of age, if we still have any available (most are sold by that time) and client has submitted our kitten questionnaire.
