Vince, Lynn, and our 15 year old daughter Jackie are the humans who belong to Ragtyme Bearded Collies. We are committed to preserving and improving the breed through educated and ethical selective breeding. I (Lynn) first fell in love with the Beardie when “Rags” was given to me by my parents for my fifteenth birthday. Vince and I acquired our first Beardie for show soon after we were married and have been very involved in showing the breed since that time in 1987. We have shown 60+ Beardies owned by us to their AKC Championships and have bred 80+ AKC Champions to date. Our foundation stud dog Bubby (Am & Can Ch Windfiddler’s Still Cruisin’) has sired over 100 AKC Champions and is currently the Top Sire of All Time in the breed.
We are charter members of our local breed club, the Rocky Mountain Bearded Collie Club, and have held many offices over the years. We are also members of an all breed club, the Plum Creek Kennel Club, and have been members of the Bearded Collie Club of America, the national Beardie club, since 1987. We believe strongly in breeding for proper breed type, soundness, temperament and health while trying to maintain natural herding instinct.
We bred our first litter in May of 1991 and offer full guarantees for health and temperament on our puppies. Our written contract also carries a buy back clause which states that we will take back one of our puppies at any time if for any reason the owner cannot keep him. We feel responsible for the puppies we produce in our breeding program for their lifetimes.
Many Ragtyme Bearded Collies have earned AKC titles in agility, obedience, and herding trials as well as Conformation Championships. We believe that any Beardie bred with the proper temperament, trainability, soundness in mind and body and type can achieve anything the owner helps him accomplish in ANY performance or conformation venue.
Some of our dogs accomplishments include All Breed Bests In Show, National Specialty Bests In Show, Best In Puppy Sweeps, Best In Futurity, Winners Bitch and Bests Of Opposite Sex at multiple National Specialties, Top Ten rankings almost every year since 1992(!), multiple group winners, and top sire and brood bitch awards. They also live with us in our home as members of our family (yes, they even sleep on our beds).
Be sure you are purchasing full breeder support for the lifetime of your Beardie, not just buying a puppy. Our puppies are raised in our home and well-socialized with children and strangers before leaving us. We are dedicated to the health and well being of the Bearded Collie and screen hips, elbows, eyes, and thyroid function of potential parents before doing any breeding or allowing stud service by any of our males. Ragtyme is a closed kennel as of 2010. We do not sell show puppies except to breeders we are well acquainted with, nor do we allow outside breedings to our stud dogs except under very specific circumstances. We are more than happy to sell puppies to qualified families as beloved companions as only the very best puppy (or possibly puppies) from a litter will be shown or bred from.
